Athletics Day

Athletics day was fun and I enjoyed it. I'm proud of myself for trying different activities even though I was never good as "sporty" people who participated. I was also happy because my Kaiahiku won, which is my house color. At the end of the day, I felt tired but happy.

Something I Learned Last Week

Something I learned last week was contemporary dancing. Contemporary dancing is a dominant genre, pioneered by Isadora Duncan. 

It is a type of dance performance mainly danced to the lyrics, barefooted. It can be categorised as lyrical, jazz, ballet and modern. 

Contemporary dancers usually move freely and gracefully with nothing much of a choreographed or fixed dance steps as the moves are based on the message of the song. In this way, dancers can interpret a story and easily connect with the audience.

Film

My plan for my film this term is about challenge, and I will work on it by animating it. Though it is my first time doing animation, I want try how far I can make my film creative this year. So I hope that the outcome of my film will be good and will meet my expectations.

Cross Country 2019

Today, we celebrated out Cross Country and everyone seemed happy and tired. I did three laps along with the other year 7 & 8 students, while the lower levels did less laps.

Unfortunately, I didn’t came to top 3 but I still enjoyed running and participating.

April Kelly

Last Friday was the last day Room 11 spent their time with Ms. April Kelly. For me, it was pretty sad. We learned a lot from her and she was kind and understanding and her attitude makes up what a good teacher is and I felt proud of myself for being a good student as I can and I showed her my creativity, which inspired her.

I think and I hope she’s going to be a good teacher soon and I wish that she enjoyed spending her time with us, Room 11.

Icy Bread Sticks Experiment

This week, my school focused on Science experiments that relate to Properties of Matter. My group decided to make another version of hot ice without baking soda and vinegar.

Based on what we expected, the extremely chilled water would form an icy solid substance once it hits the surface. This occurs from the equal  cold temperature of the frozen surface and the chilled water.

Unfortunately, our experiment failed. We learned that there are factors that affects the effect that needed to be considered. Which were : temperature and machine.

In the end, we still managed to understand how state of matter works and we learned something new.

The Miniature Castle

The Miniature Castle

The miniature castle, made by a little girl whose imagination was large and influenced by Disney movies characters especially, Disney Princesses. The castle has enough rooms where you can enter the delightful, odd memories and displays, which are the highlights of the child. Sometimes in her dreams, she would enter different rooms and would end up visiting an odd room, she would end up in a nightmare.  The uniqueness of her castle is that, she never had servants nor slaves to help her and made her feel luxurious. Because she knows that she’ll lost her childish imagination and so as her castle and she’ll face reality.

King & Queen Run 2019

The King and Queen Run 2019 was fun and also exhausting. When my group had a turn to run all the way up the summit, I was nervous but I was encouraging myself to do it and my team mates as well. As I ran, I saw many students from my school and other schools' struggling and catching their breath. It was funny to see them struggling but it's for their fitness. Going downhill was much harder for me as the path was slippery and muddy. In the end, I manage to reach the finish line/ area and I had some snacks with the other runners that were exhausted. Sooner that moment, the police men performed a little bit of K-9 show. Everyone was amazed about the tricks that were shown by trained K-9 dogs.

Cycle Safety

Cycle Safety

Cycle Safety is a program for students to learn rules and proper safeties when they are going out of the road and being a well-disciplined cyclist.

I enjoyed it very much because Cycling is my favorite sport and it is also one of my passions.
It was easy for me to learn about the safety rules because I would always see cyclists and motorists obey it.  The bikes where pretty heavy for me because I'm used to riding with a Road Bike.
My climax in the activity was riding around the football field, near Navarre Street. As I enjoyed very much, I think I overtook many times and I saw a few of my teammates struggling a bit so I tried to encourage them.

After the roam around, I felt very happy and thankful because I got to experience cycling in a group and I learned many safety precautions.
